Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThis morning I placed a grocery order with Walmart.
When it was delivered, one item was missing. This happens, and its usually no problem.
So I went to the website to report it. A little box kept popping up to see if I was human. As soon as I went through the check, it popped up again. This happened around 20 times.
Finally I opened up a chat window. The bot did not understand me. After proving I was human, I finally got to chat with a human. Turns out she did not have all the usual tools available to her. Then the chat froze and I had to prove I was human again. I finally got back into the chat and typed out what item was missing and she was able to initiate a refund.
Something that usually takes 5 minutes took a half hour. It was pure frustration.
This is automation. This is the future. Pretty soon there will be no human on the other end at all. Too expensive.

(24,057 posts)Went through the whole thing, got a confirmation that my tires would be installed at 2 PM the next day at...Columbus, Ohio. Hundreds of miles away.
Changed "my store" location back to where I live and went through the whole thing again. This time they set me up in White Plains. Hundreds of miles away. Doesn't seem to be any way to change this, so I cancel the whole deal out and start over.
This time I got Walmart about 80 miles away. They are getting closer.
Finally! Got an appointment in my closest Walmart.
I've got an e-mail confirmation, a time and date that works. Let's go.
Oooops! Got an e-mail canceling the appointment. No reason given. So I drive out to the damn store to talk to a person.
They tell me my appointment was not canceled, so I go ahead and get the tires mounted. Took 2 and a half hours, because they "had to work me in". Great. Got my tires and went home.
Another e-mail waiting for me. Seems since my appointment was "canceled", I owe a service charge of $13.05. They will hold the tires (which are on my car) until June 6. Check my credit card statement, and there are no charges from Walmart at all. One month later, and after repeated e-mails to them that receive no response, still no charge on my credit card.
And Republicans want government to be run more like a business? Lord save us all from the visionaries.

(20,669 posts)You would think a company as big as Walmart would have their shit together. I go to the Subaru dealer for my auto care and I never have problems. Never had issues with Firestone either.

(4,221 posts)Think about what information you gave, as I fear it is possible you were scammed.
This is a new thing, where they use fake CAPTCHA popups, which sounds like what you experienced. I had one pop up and it didn't make any sense, as I was just browsing Rawstory (never had a CAPTCHA there before). They inject them into ads.
If you gave any information, you may need to take action to protect yourself.
Here are some articles on it:

(20,669 posts)I really didn't enter any information except to hold down a button. But it clearly wasn't working and I was at the right site. I have a lot of protection on my computer, including malwarebytes.
