(12,438 posts)I pay for still having a land line (thankfully that's the only number I receive them on).
There's a new one I saw today - not medical phishing, but a text impersonating AT&T. They said "It's time to check your iPhone battery health so click on the link below". Yeah, right. I called to warn my MIL about it right away. She's already gone through one bout of scamming where she gave them her SSN and verified all her banking info.

(470 posts)The phone gives a message that you have to press 1 to reach someone. This eliminates also all robocalls. The ones that do get through I let my voice mail handle it and they usually hang up. On my cellphone, unless the number being called from is in my contacts list, the phone will screen the call and alert me whether it's a "scam." If it's someone I know they'll leave a voice mail.

(66,289 posts)I like my landline phone. I hate my cell phone and it is my 3rd one. I just threw one of them out but I prolly should have kept it and sold it as an antique cell phone. It was an oddly shaped flip phone.
