No one is really going to try and stop this.

https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2026/02/no-one-is-really-going-to-try-and-stop.html

At this point in my life, I need to start putting some real thought and energy into what these last years will look like, and into how to try and get through the days and survive what's coming. It doesn't appear that anyone has either the ability, the knowledge of how, or the willingness to try and stop Trump from destroying the American Democracy.

There's certainly an awareness of what's going on and how he's doing it, and there are plenty of Americans who, drowining in their own ignorance and prejudice, support what Trump does. The opposition has marched, held rallies, "No Kings" parades, with increasing fervor and participation and there are some politicians, a few in Congress, mostly in the states, who are speaking out and keeping it in front of the people as best they can in the face of a controlled, bought and paid for press that is no longer free. A few have offered suggestions as to what can be done, with excuses of why there's not much that can be done.

But no one is making a real effort to put a stop to it, even with the power that is at hand.

I really hate sounding cynical, but I've resigned myself to the fact that, just a few years short of my 70th birthday, I will probably never see America be the Democracy that it was when I was growing up, and into my adult years. Those who control 99% of the wealth in this country have been enabled to slowly but surely suffocate "we, the people," with their money and the influence it has bought them, and it doesn't really seem like there is a way back. There is a lot of talk, but there is no real action at all.

If there is, please point it out.

1. It has been a slow progression for the last 50 years with American approval. It is who we are now.

I'm with you...I never thought it would get this bad in my lifetime - I really feel for young people with ethics and morals. The biggest problem is that this has become the new normal - a lot of young people have never known any difference.

It's more than just that, but Republicans have gutted public education, the biggest damage coming during the Reagan-Bush years and then again under W, and now Trump. A profession with some of the highest demand for continuing professional development and education doesn't have the resources to provide it, and so the highly qualified candidates are dropping out and going into other areas. The school district where I grew up, in a small town in Arizona, has been experiencing a crisis in this area for over a decade, to the point where they do not get enough certified applicants for the positions they have open. And at starting pay of just under $40,000, they won't be able to, either. But put a school tax levy on the ballot and the Republican constituencies in the community vote it down.

I never thought I would ever see a situation like this.
We (or at least myself) was taught to believe that what's unfolding could ever happen here. That our system prevented things like this from happening.
The other thing that surprises me is how many, including people I know, support this. This included people who I thought were liberal or rational or both.
And I still maintain that much of it is because we had a Black President. Although most wouldn't admit it that touched a nerve deep inside.Doesn't matter how good a job he did they felt it wasn't "right". The system had to be skewered & biased to allow it.
So....Let's Show 'Em! Put the all-time worst white Son of A Bitch in there..Teach 'em a hard lesson!
The mistake made is they think they are excluded!
