even our favorite three-toed genetic freak of nature started each morning by tossing back a fresh mug of piping-hot disease.

I had a relative who spent decades investigating meat packing plants---you don't even want to know what some processing firms do in the way of careless preparation and sale of raw meats. I order my steaks cooked medium, and I stay the hell away from all raw products, sushi very much included. Life is perilous enough without taking foolish chances---gobbling down raw flesh like your average coyote? No thank you.
