Kennedy Center refuses to take tarps off where Trump's name was removed

President Donald Trump suffered a severe humiliation this month when the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts was finally ordered by a federal court to remove Trump's name from the side of the building, clarifying that Congress only allowed Kennedy's name to be on the facility.
Now, days later, tarps are still covering the spot where Trump's name was, and, according to The New York Times, it's starting to arouse suspicion. Some are even questioning whether the name was in fact fully removed at all.
Matt Floca, the operations chief for the Kennedy Center, "filed a sworn declaration with a federal court later that day saying that Mr. Trumps name had been removed," noted the report. And at least some letters were taken off, as "a New York Times photographer captured evidence through an opening in the tarp that the letter 'A' came off," as well as a "D" in a separate photograph.
The Kennedy Center will not give a direct explanation for why the tarps aren't coming down, with one spokesperson saying, The scaffolding and tarp will remain up as crews address maintenance needs of the marble and soffit panels.
Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH), the Kennedy Center board member who sued over Trump-aligned officials' mishandling of the facility in the first place, told The Times, Donald Trump is embarrassed. He lost in court, his name came down, and now he is trying to hide the result from the public.

(82,076 posts)Why is a giant tarp still hanging at the Kennedy Center?
The tarp was put up over the scaffolding last week, as crews removed President Donald Trump's name from the Kennedy Center.

WASHINGTON A tarp covering the area where President Donald Trump's name was removed from the Kennedy Center remains in place Friday night.
"Take down the tarp!' the crowd gathered for the weekly Hands Off The Arts protest yelled.
According to a Kennedy Center official, the tarp will remain while crews address maintenance needs involving the marble and soffit panels. Officials did not verify exactly why the tarp was initially needed.
The debate over the tarp intensified Friday as a status report was filed in court regarding the future of the Kennedy Center just hours before a deadline. The center had been directed to provide details explaining why a full two-year closure would be needed by June 19.
In the filing, the Kennedy Center said it intends to keep the building open beyond the original planned July 5 closure date. The filing also states the center is compiling all options, including a possible full closure, for the board to consider in a vote scheduled for mid-July.

(53,519 posts)Least likely:
The Idiot Son of an Asshole told the removal crew before they got it all off that he's written an Executive Order directing his name remain in place, and they're standing by wondering if they have to take the rest of it down or put it back up.
Possibly more likely:
They're trying to protect Trump's delicate feelings by not letting him see his name is gone.
Almost certain:
His name is down. The process of drilling into the marble to install Trump's name, and the prying necessary to remove it, has damaged the building's fascia to the point millions of dollars are going to have to be spent repairing it.
