LOS ANGELES (AP) Michael Reagan, the eldest son of President Ronald Reagan and a conservative commentator, has died. He was 80.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute announced his death in a post on the social platform X on Tuesday, calling him a steadfast guardian of his fathers legacy.
Michael Reagan lived a life shaped by conviction, purpose, and an abiding devotion to President Reagans ideals, the foundation said.
His cause of death was not immediately announced.

(52,216 posts)who was the polar opposite. He was adopted and wasn't really accepted my Reagan's 2nd wife Nancy. Perhaps he was just conservative by nature, but I think he tried a bit too hard to win his father's approval. Even so, I believe he always felt like an outsider.

(27,165 posts)The first book he wrote was very critical of his father and how he wasn't treated like the others. The second book, written after his father was president, was a complete turnabout.
