Trump official who shut down counter-Russia agency has links to Kremlin

Source: Telegraph via Yahoo

A senior official who dismantled the US government’s Russian disinformation unit is married to a Russian woman with links to the Kremlin, The Telegraph can reveal.

-snip-

He has been noted for his focus on destroying the agency tasked with tackling Kremlin propaganda.

Mr Beattie, the acting under-secretary for public diplomacy and public affairs, is married to a woman whose uncle has taken several roles in Russian politics and once received a personal “thank you” message from Vladimir Putin.

In the years before joining the government, Mr Beattie wrote social media posts suggesting Western institutions should be “infiltrated” by Putin, while he also attacked what he described as the “globalist American empire”.

He said that having non-woke China and anti-woke Russia competing with America is "not a bad thing."

He also posted on social media that the US shouldn't support Taiwan, according to the article.

I did some googling and quickly found this.

Beattie was terminated as a speech writer for Trump after the Washington Post in 2018 reported that he had spoken at a conference attended by well-known white nationalists.

Posts by Beattie on X have advocated for white men being in charge and questioned US policy toward Taiwan.

In a post in October last year, Beattie wrote that the US' national ideology is based on "coddling the feelings of women and minorities, and demoralizing competent white men," and that "competent white men must be in charge if you want things to work."

He questioned US policy toward Taiwan, saying that the nation was "inevitably" going to belong to China, and that it was "not worth expending any capital to prevent."

Oh, and this bigot has also called for sterilization of what he calls "low-IQ trash":

... we'd need a thick program to be able to pick up on all the players. TACO is trying to lower standards enough we can't begin to pick up on every loser he hires.

In selecting his operational folks, it seems highly unlikely he would be able to attract many of actual skill and talent (never mind principles and reliability).

It has taken herculean (for him) efforts to bribe and leverage greedy, unprincipled CEOs and law firms to genuflect, for example.

Moscow's arm is so far up this administration's ass, I'm surprised we don't see Putin's hand waving at us when trump opens his mouth to speak.

It's going to take 30 years or more to remove the Russian moles trump's allowing into the government.
