Trump's tax and policy bill takes center stage at lively Nebraska GOP town hall

Source: USA Today

US Congressman Mike Flood faced a torrent of boos and jeers as he spoke to town hall attendees in his Nebraska district on May 27, one of the first held nationwide as House GOP leaders return home after passing President Donald Trump's sweeping tax policy bill. "I thought your party wanted to reduce the deficit," one constituent questioned in writing about the bill, which would add an estimated $3.8 trillion to the deficit. "What in the world?"

Another attendee said Flood, R-Nebraska, had previously claimed he wouldn't vote for a bill that cuts Social Security and Medicare, but the GOP bill now may trigger mandatory budget reductions that could impact Medicare. "You either lied to us or you have been bullied into voting against our health care," she said.

An audience member who identified themselves as a para-educator raised concerns that the school voucher program included in the GOP bill would pull money from public schools and hurt children with learning disabilities. They asked: "How is that an equitable school choice for my child?"

Unlike in previous town halls – which have grabbed headlines as attendees protested the Trump administration's rapid transformation of the federal government – Flood's crowd had Congress in its sights.

When you CUT YOUR REVENUE (the taxes applied to the billionaires) and there is STILL a need for the level spending that is happening after years of crises due to a lack of resources for critical functioning, then YES you will have a "deficit".

Silly person. Deficits only matter when there’s a Democrat in the White House.

You can find it among those who can most easily afford to chip in a little more for their country. Tax the rich.

The wealthy need to pay up and this is the time to kill the TSF’s tax cuts.
Americans know the debt is a problem and they understand the danger. We need to get our fiscal house in order or outside forces will do it for us.

Our idiot GOP senators and reps need to know that Fox News policies and MAGA ass kissing are grossly unpopular outside of Fox News.
