Chaos erupts at Gaza aid site as crowds overwhelm distribution efforts

Source: Ynet News

A newly established food distribution center in the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood of Rafah descended into chaos Tuesday, hours after opening, as hundreds of Palestinians overwhelmed the site. According to reports from Gaza, the surge prompted American aid workers to withdraw from the location.

Israeli officials contended that local residents did not loot the facility. However, eyewitness accounts and representatives from the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) confirmed that remaining aid packages were taken during the disorder.

A Gaza-based source told Ynet that due to the large crowd at the aid distribution point, GHF security personnel fled. The source added that the site was destroyed, fencing was torn down and an Israeli combat helicopter fired warning shots to disperse the crowd. All aid packages, tables and chairs were taken, and the American staff evacuated the area.

I'm so disgusted with the whole thing. Not that I can do anything.

2. A fiasco, as warned about.

It's looking like planned chaos in service of an agenda or extreme ideology-driven incompetence. GHF has been exposed as a shady, questionable player, a brainchild of Israelis with ties to Netanyahu. Unsurprising.

Meanwhile the WFP and other credible, actual humanitarians who have been doing the work, have had lines of packed trucks waiting at the border for weeks - but they have been sidelined, the food gone to waste likely.

Cue the chorus of "Hamas steals aid!" - denied by all internationa aid agencies on the ground and lacking any other evidence 8- but fortunately I won't see it.

And yes, starving people will do anything to feed their families.

4. That's part of it. It feeds into the narrative of "Palestinians bad". But even more so...

It feeds into the not-so-secret-anymore plan to ethnically cleanse them from Gaza.

Israel set up a new Directorate for "Voluntary Emigration" a term now used as a euphemism for ethnic cleansing. Ugh...

This so-called humanitarian plan through GHF has nothing to do with humanitarianism. It straight-up planned to feed only half the population for starters. Guess the rest would "voluntarily emigrate" or starve. The mechanisms set up to get to the food - walking miles, checkpoints, facial-recognition software, likely "blacklists" of those not allowed to get aid (which would mean their families too), IDF guards and gate-keepers etc etc -are all geared to engender fear, increase hardship, and most of all lead to forced displacement from North Gaza, which will have no distribution hubs. Once they are all herded like sheep into a small area of the south, starving and broken - they just might find it attractive to "voluntarily emigrate" through the Sinai to whatever dark hell-hole on earth Trump and Netanyahu negotiated with bribed to take them.

It is to weep but also holler.

question everything

5. The US, the EU and the Gulf states should drop aid from the air, the way the Berlin airlift was after WWII

The IDF should be notified to not shoot the planes.

They should drop the aid at different sites to prevent large crowds trampling.
