'Shut Up About Egg Prices': Trump Shares Brazen Message About High Costs

Source: Huff Post

Mar 10, 2025, 02:35 AM EDT

President Donald Trump, who promised to cut the cost of groceries on his first day in office, now seems to have a much different take on high prices as he shared a column with a very blunt headline: “Shut Up About Egg Prices ― Trump Is Saving Consumers Millions.” Trump posted a link to the Feb. 17 article, written by right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, on his Truth Social website over the weekend:

Egg prices have reached record highs in recent weeks, averaging $4.95 a dozen in January and passing $10 per dozen in some parts of the country. Grocery stores in places have put limits on egg purchases, and some have run out of them entirely. A number of restaurants have even tacked egg surcharges onto the check.

In the column published by The Daily Caller, Kirk argues that egg prices are not Trump’s fault. They’re not. At least, not entirely. Prices have been see-sawing since 2022, with much of the increase since due to the impact of bird flu, which has killed millions of chickens. Millions more have been culled the stop the virus from spreading.

However, Trump campaigned heavily on not just cutting prices, but doing so on his very first day in office. “I will immediately bring prices down starting on Day 1,” he said on Aug. 15, for example. “Starting the day I take the oath of office, I will rapidly drive prices down,” he promised later that some month. He backed away from that last month.

The workers fired were doing work, which will now be outsourced to companies owned by friends of Trump at much higher costs and lower performance because they will have no experience.

Aside from the immediate housing, food, debt the people fired are facing there’s the money they spend usually everyday. Lunches, dinners, coffees, impulse buys at the gas station and drug stores when getting prescriptions. That’s a loss to those businesses. The secondary threat of firings due to this is real. The loss of sales tax to the state and localities (which they are counting on) will affect the same communities.

I’m not saying that these examples justify employment but we aren’t just saving salary and benefits we are paying for them.

She has had her resume out there since Election Day. Everyone knew this was coming and there is chaos and depression in the department.

She is defiant and is wearing a tee shirt with a meme that is a red Swingline stapler with the words COME AND TAKE IT, that has been making the rounds in the social media of Government workers. (Office Space reference)

The only expertise that clown has is being an insufferable piece of shit with an elevated opinion of himself and a denigrating attitude towards everyone not exactly (white) like him. If we allow that kind of partisan hack with no skills or value to become arbiters of important discussions, this country is dead forever.

I sort of wish people would quit harping on it as well. Why would anyone believe a campaign promise of lowering the price of groceries on Day 1? Of course that wouldn't happen.

"Price of eggs".

-despite historically low unemployment, interest rates down, and inflation tamed.

The media promoted and magnified 45's nonsense as iron clad "truths" (just like they are doing RIGHT NOW regarding the legality of all these layoffs and buyouts - some reluctantly indicating that this is illegal but only doing so in the last paragraphs of their articles), and we could not break through that because we own no big media outlets.

The Democratic Party campaign has insisted that Americans "are concerned about the economy" while we are watching how the brainwashed masses are more concerned about RW caricatures of "illegal aliens invading", "DEI", "CRT", "Trans rights", and any of their other bullshit mischaracterizations of civil rights.

Mon Mar 10, 2025, 11:13 AM

and that's not even what he's trying to do.

IF he saves anything, it is being done to fund a tax break for billionaires. Consumers will get NO benefit, they will just pay for it.
IF he saves nothing, he is still intent on giving the tax break to billionaires, consumers and economy be damned.

And as a bonus, he is using his cuts as a weapon targeting anyone and everyone he dislikes, doesn't show him due reverence, or wins him points (support) from "the base".

Win/win in his book.
