Scott Perry says no one 'legitimately' on Medicaid will lose coverage

Source: The Hill

03/09/25 12:48 PM ET

Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) suggested on Sunday that no one “legitimately” on Medicaid will lose their coverage due to GOP efforts to cut spending. In an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday,” anchor Chris Stirewalt noted that, for Republicans to achieve the kind of steep spending cuts they have set out for, cuts will likely have to target more than just waste, fraud and abuse.

Stirewalt noted that the Office of Management and Budget has said only about 4 percent of federal payments are improper, which, Stirewalt noted, accounts for just over $31 billion in Medicaid. “You all are looking to cut a lot more than that over the next 10 years,” Stirewalt said. “Can you really promise that no one is going to lose their health coverage as a result of this?”

“I think what we can promise is that no one that is legitimately on Medicaid will lose their coverage, and I think that’s important,” Perry said in response. He suggested Medicaid cuts could affect those who immigrated to the U.S. illegally.

“You’re talking about improper payments, but you didn’t include people that are here illegally. If you’re here illegally, you should not be on any federal assistance program. That’s not what they’re designed for. They’re designed for Americans that are struggling, that are below the poverty line, or that are infirm, that can’t work and afford health care. That’s what that program is designed for, not for millions of people that came flooding across the border and want to just live in America and have everybody else pick up the tab,” Perry added.

And it is, as usual, a steaming pile of bovine excrement as such individuals are INELIGIBLE to receive Medicaid.🤬😡 It’s nothing more than his usual puerile propaganda trotted out to justify harming many of his own constituents who are dependent on this vital program to keep them alive because, after all, their lives aren’t as important to this traitor than making his billionaire handlers more obscenely wealthy. I suggest his voters reward his betrayal accordingly-by terminating his continued employment. His job loss would make democracy infinitely more “efficient.” 🤬🤬

and terminating their benefits and then putting them through a very long process of appeals with many delays. The insurance companies like to do this with patients receiving expensive care hoping they will die during the appeal and then they will pocket the money.

Like if you are legitimately on Medicaid, you won't lose it.
if you are legitimately on Social Security, you won't lose it.
The problem is that they have lied to often and casually to be believed.
