Jasmine Crockett Complains Dems Are 'Carrying the Load' of GOP's Constituency Since Republicans Now Only Answer To Musk

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) claimed that Democratic lawmakers are “carrying the load” for not only their constituents, but constituents represented by Republicans too. Crockett joined MSNBC’s Katie Phang on Saturday’s The Katie Phang Show, and she accused Republican lawmakers of ignoring their own constituents because they “only answer to” President Donald Trump and DOGE’s (Department of Government Efficiency) Elon Musk.

According to the lawmaker, Republicans could not provide answers on DOGE and federal cuts because they don’t have them, even with a federal budget deadline looming this month. Crockett declared Democrats are “united” on the budget. “We know the Republicans have decided that they don’t want to answer to their constituents. They put out official guidance saying, do not go home and do town halls,” Crockett said.

The lawmaker cited reports that Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC), the head of the National Republican Congressional Committee, met with Republican lawmakers and discouraged town halls as Trump and DOGE continue making sweeping federal cuts. The reported meeting followed Trump blaming a series of heated town halls with lawmakers on “paid ‘troublemakers.'” “Paid ‘troublemakers’ are attending Republican Town Hall Meetings. It is all part of the game for the Democrats, but just like our big LANDSLIDE ELECTION, it’s not going to work for them!” he wrote on Truth Social.

Crockett meanwhile accused Republicans of flat-out ignoring their constituents and any concerns over governments cuts. “So right now the Democrats are carrying the load for not only our constituency, but for theirs too because clearly they don’t have the answers for their constituents,” Crockett told Phang, “which, the honest to goodness truth is that they don’t answer to their constituents.”
