Federal employees have received a second email from the Office of Personnel Management asking them what they did last week even as those demands are currently facing legal scrutiny.
Late Friday night, federal employees received a second email asking them to share five bullet points on their accomplishments last week.
It's the latest in an effort led by Trump advisor Elon Musk, who has said his goal is to monitor productivity, while searching for fake government employees for which he has presented no evidence.
Employees were also told that going forward, they were expected to submit similar lists by end of the day every Monday.

(150,794 posts)OPM is basically part of the federal "administrative services" function (H.R.), along with OMB (Office of Management and Budget = financial), and GSA (General Services Administration = property management, telecomm).
OPM manages the paperwork for on-boarding, personnel actions, benefits, and retirements. NOTHING MORE. They don't track "workload" or anything else.
There is no "hierarchy" that designates a federal command structure where OPM is somehow at the top of the pyramid. They are simply a parallel agency that reports to the President.

(150,794 posts)and such communications should NOT be coming from them.
Their job is to manage personnel files and payroll (whether for future, current, or retired employees) AND NOTHING MORE.
This is like having a company H.R. department send out a blast email that directs their company's manufacturing division on how they are supposed to operate.
Supposedly that "DOGE" nonsense was nothing more than the renaming of OPM's IT office and that is their justification for using them as the launching point for this bizarre communications. And this idiotic "business/corporate" mentality has been proceeding as if OPM was "in charge" of federal agency functions and it is NOT.

(150,794 posts)It is beyond the scope and mission of the agency.

(15,170 posts)that OPM is official as an established agency as opposed to DOGE.
What is the reason for repeating the same response? Im very clear on the point I made.

(150,794 posts)OPM had an office called the "United States Digital Service" and that was used to be renamed as "DOGE". The employees of that original office recently resigned in protest.

The United States Digital Service (USDS) was a technology unit[2][3] housed within the Executive Office of the President of the United States and established by Congressional appropriations.[4] In 2025, it was publicly renamed and reorganized as the United States DOGE Service, which includes the self-styled Department of Government Efficiency, according to Executive Order 14158.[/b][1]
History
The USDS was launched on August 11, 2014, by President Barack Obama, and funded in 2021.[4][5] It provided consultation services to federal agencies on information technology. Its mandate was to improve and simplify digital service, and to improve federal websites.[6][7][8][9] Its mission was to "deliver better government services to the American people through technology and design".[10]

This is why I protest the characterization.
