https://newrepublic.com/post/212559/far-right-host-donald-trump-state-fair-debate-childA video appeared to show Knowles onstage lecturing a young girl about the Salem witch trialsand revealing his own outrageous opinions. The one area where the Salem witch trials went a little far is, I would say, they werent organized enough, Knowles said. So, you had these, like, random judges who were, you know, kind of, burning these ladies.
I dont know if they were guilty or not, he continued. But I think moreif it were more formalized, built up a little bit more, maybe with like a grand inquisitor or something, that wouldve been the way to do it.
Whats worse: that Knowles thinks the problem with the Salem witch trials was that they were too disorganized, or that he cant say whether the women were actually guilty of witchcraft? Actually, never mind. The second one is definitely worse.

(127,275 posts)The 1692-1693 hysteria was interrupted by the continuing intervention of Governor Phipps, who in 1692 removed the local proceedings to a special court (where dreams and visions were disallowed as evidence) and had by mid-1693 pardoned the remaining accused. The legal and political backlash continued for many years: in 1697, Massachusetts held a day of fasting and reflection over the 1692-1693 events; in 1702, decided the trials had been illegal; and by 1711, had paid some restitution.
