MN-SEN: Peggy Flanagan and Angie Craig face off in U.S. Senate debate
ST PAUL, Minn. Minnesotas U.S. Senate race is heating up as Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan and Congresswoman Angie Craig squared off Friday night in their first debate ahead of the August DemocraticFarmerLabor (DFL) primary. The two are vying for Senator Tina Smith's seat who is not running for re-election.
While Flanagan secured the DFL endorsement earlier this month, Craig enters the race with a significant fundraising advantage, setting up a contrast between party backing and financial strength.
During the debate, both candidates leaned into their political resumes and priorities, but also spent a substantial amount of time attacking the other on where they receive campaign funds from. Apart from campaign funds, a few hot-button topics included immigration enforcement, affordability, and fraud.
"The governor says that the buck stops with him, and he took the lead here [on fraud]," Flanagan said.
