President Barack Obama was a man for the People, and still is.
The world was fortunate to have him as the leader of the actual Free World. .

(17,936 posts)Good heavens, I miss decency so much. I was watching video of Obama and Michelle (that's how I think of them; I don't know why) welcoming guests. He just grabbed that little baby and those teen boys and there was instant connection. Because his compassion is felt by others.
All people seem to want to do who get near Trump is run the other direction. I know that I would!

Thank you.

(17,936 posts)I don't think about him as "Barack", and I'm glad to hear you say the same thing. I don't know why I don't, but I don't.
In the same way, I never think of Michelle as "Mrs. Obama" either.
They are most definitely the real, true, genuine articles - and that part comes through. It's not something someone can fake.
I saw a comment earlier where someone was hoping that they continue to be seen and visible through the mid-terms because they are the utmost reminder of what we had and what we have lost. I echo that sentiment. I hope they will be very active and involved.

(98,982 posts)-The lobby leading to this court is named after Eunice Shriver Kennedy, renowned for her advocacy for individuals with disabilities and her establishment of the Special Olympics.
- Outside, the Rachel Carson Courtyard adds a serene touch with its sustainable approach to landscaping.
-In a tribute to community and memory, the centre includes Tafaris Kitchen, a restaurant commemorating the late Tafari Campbell, a beloved White House sous chef who tragically passed away in 2023. President Obama remembered him fondly, acknowledging Campbells spirit of connection and comfort through food.
-The centre also puts a spotlight on sustainability with the Eleanor Roosevelt Fruit and Vegetable Garden

(9,452 posts)Yes WE can!
Living in a democracy carries the requirement of taking personal responsibility. Obama worked to make that clear and easier for each of us. Michelle works to inspire us to care and to exercise that care. They were/are our best and most reliable neighbors, teachers, friends.

(98,982 posts)They are waking us through the Obama Center. I just saw an interview with Pete Souza. This is wonderful.
It is amazing. The words at the top of the building are actually set in huge windows and you can look out and see Chicago for miles!
Yes, it gives me hope, mcar.
