Leftism As Identity

I feel like for me, being a leftist is a part of being a good person in the sense of doing good and not simply not being bad. What I mean by that is I feel connected to nature and a sense of something bigger than we can imagine, and leftist thinking is usually trying to use the world's resources for the common good. I am not religious but I feel that there is other sentient life in this universe, and the life forms that have exceeded us have mostly chosen an egalitarian path. There is a good feeling I get knowing that I am trying to improve things.

Not in an arrogant way, but it is in the sense of wanting to make the most of what I have. Everyone is just a tiny speck in the universe, yet we have the potential to change so much inside of our "pale blue dot", and we should try to change it for the better, and potentially venture beyond it. If you think about it, liberals have been the ones throughout history who built the world. Because conservatives would not have developed or tried to develop civilizations thousands of years ago because from their point of view hunter-gatherer life or primitive pastoralism was sufficient.
