of course this song can be used to support any group that is on the outs and wants to be in, but it is most closely tied with
civil rights era 60s. And Dylan always claims he is not political but the body of work says otherwise IMO. If there are popular protest songs coming out of today's generation I haven't heard many, but I don't get around that much lol

The times have been changing for my whole life. Gen Xer here. I don't know if I believe the message of this song anymore. It still hits me like a ton o bricks when I hear it, but the "change" is being erased before my very eyes.
