The Danish are happier because they are not necessitous.

(2,604 posts)30-40 years ago. We went to the trouble of itemizing all of the different taxes we pay, that we don't even think about. There are about 20-30 line items........Turns out he was 100% correct, and I am sure it is far far more now, than then.....

(22,684 posts)Die early because you can't afford your meds in old age? Sell off all your assets to go Medicaid end of life leaving nothing for your children? Get exploited by an economic system designed to empty your pockets no matter how hard you've worked all your life? Have the risk of retirement savings put entirely on you (401K instead of the old defined benefit), other than the pittance you get from Social Security? In the wealthiest nation the planet has ever seen? That's all you get? Pathetic, really.
So again, freedom to do what?

(358 posts)Praise to Bob Marley and many others for repeating this old proverb. Selfishness and greed leads to violence and war. When will the wealthy captains of industry realize that fair taxation is a benefit to all including them because a peaceful and stable society makes for a better business climate.
