Velshi: No Kings rally is "a chance to actually go out and do something."
Velshi:
"...it's an opportunity to actually do something - I think what's happening with the fear this administration is instilling in people is it's paralyzing.
Today is the opposite of paralyzing."
...that's a perfect encapsulation of today for me.
It's been about 5 months or so that I haven't driven anywhere or ventured out past by home, out of pure anxiety and mostly aversion to being fucked with.
Call it fear, or whatever you want, but I'm one of the people you'd see still fighting and struggling to resist underneath a pile of government thugs, and I just can afford that nonsense, so I've kept this low profile. Fwiw, I'm much less anxious these days. Maybe not today, but fuck it.
My son is driving my wife and me to our local protest which they've sort of bottled up inside of the local music pavilion with performances and speakers expected before they march out to the street.
Since we have some mobility issues, we're planing on waiting outside the venue where we'll likely be able to hear everything, as we can normally, mostly hear them from our backyards when they have concerts.
He just went out and got some poster boards and spray paint, excited, but a bit subdued not seeing anyone in the street yet as he drove by, and wondering if we'll see the same street protest we had the last time.
Anyway, I hope to have a few photos afterward, and best of luck to everyone today!
