Trump's shoe fetish...he's "gifting" $145 Florsheims that he "expects recipients to wear in his presence"

Trump has traded in his signature MAGA hats for an unexpected gift of choice: $145 Florsheim men's dress shoes that he's distributing to agency heads, lawmakers, and White House officials — and he apparently expects them to wear them in his presence.

According to a Wall Street Journal report by Alex Leary, the president has developed an obsession with the footwear and has made gifting them a ritualistic part of his Oval Office operations.

Trump has been known to suddenly pivot conversations to his "incredible" new shoes. During a January lunch with Tucker Carlson, he handed the media personality a pair of brown wingtips without warning. At cabinet meetings, he asks recipients: "Did you get the shoes?"

Some officials appear to feel compelled to wear the shoes in Trump's presence despite their reservations, which has included putting them on and lacing them up during Oval Office meetings. One female White House official remarked: "All the boys have them." Another joked: "It's hysterical because everybody's afraid not to wear them."

Even their wide versions just dug into my feet and gave me blisters.

Everyone's feet are different. But why Florsheim's? Some CEO give Trump a bribe? They're decent shoes, don't get me wrong, but I doubt Trump has worn them. Billionaires like him wear custom made shoes, and if they're wearing off the shelf I doubt they're picking anything less than $500.

Florshiem's are a fine shoe, nothing wrong with them, just don't work on my feet. By why the hell is Trump pushing them? None of his golf club billionaire pals would be caught dead in a pair of Florsheims.

I have hobbit feet, they're wide and hairy. My instep is also incredibly high. So it takes a certain shoe to be comfortable in. Struggled with blisters my whole like because shoes don't fit. Buying new shoes usually meant buying bandaids to put on my pressure points before wearing them the first couple dozen times.

The thing about Sketchers is the styles they offer aren't great IMO. But I just need comfort.

Three years ago. Style and Slip In ease sold me. They were great until,
Walking got so bad that a walk from the lot to the mall would require stopping for my sore ankles. I'm probably getting old..
WRONG!
The Memory Foam is great if you have perfect feet. I have high arches and the foam imprinted a bad support, causing ankle, leg and even pain higher up. This took time to get very problematic.
I researched the subject and found it is a common problem. Sketchers were made to be replaced every 6 months.
If your shoe folds at the toe box, that is fine. If the entire shoe folds, that may be a problem.
I am getting a pair of Anodyne (diabetic) shoes through my podiatrist. Meanwhile the stiffer LA Gear shoe has reduced my discomfort and I no longer need to stop and rest.

But they look good!

I have a pair of brown and black Eastlands. Slip on leather polishable. The only laced shoes I wear are running or “”tennis shoes” but most of those are permanently tied.

I think I still have a box of chlorofram laced shoes from my Army days in a box in my closet. This are permanently shined for dress uniform events which were very rare.

Yes dress “sneakers” are all the rage now. If I wore a full suit everyday and could get away with it I’d think about it. The Eastlands go from jeans to suit just fine and are very comfortable and last.

Edit: Voters should send the shoe-wearers boxes of red rubber noses since they seem dead-set on acting like a bunch of fucking clowns.

"They're three sizes too small, Mr. President. The only way I'm getting those shoes on my feet is to cut them in half with a chop saw and let my toes stick out."

If you're a fat cat, $149 for a pair of shoes is "Grapes of Wrath" time. Weird gift.

106. That's how they get with ALZ, fixating on weird things, especially on floors. Brain stuck in a loop.

What’s on the floor? Shoes. This really became noticable in his first term and has only accelerated.

I noticed this (specifically the floor thing) years ago when I started working with this population.

That's cheap. My New Balance shoes cost $200

And I caught of picture of those Florsheims and they look like they would pinch your toes off! I KNOW that HE does not wear those!

I'm a she and am retired with really bad feet. I don't wear "dress shoes" with dresses. I usually wear sandals from Easy Spirit. (Even at my kids' weddings) They usually retail for $60-70. SAS Sandals are now up to $200.

These are my faves right now. I bought a bunch of them on sale last summer.
