when he hasn’t mastered English beyond a rudimentary level—and even that is getting harder and harder to hang onto?

Any day now, I expect him to sound like that Steve Martin bit where he jokingly suggests it would be fun to teach your kid the wrong word for everything, so eventually he’ll go to school and tell the teacher, “May I mambo dogface to the banana patch?” Stupidly funny as a joke, not at all when it’s coming from the guy with the nuclear codes and no one's willing to stand up and say he’s non compos mentis and needs to fkg GO.
