General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsToday I picked up an online order from Penzeys.
For those who don't know, Penzeys sells spices and they're great Democrats. Their spices are a bit pricey but the quality is worth it; plus if you sign up for their e-mails, they always have excellent sales and free-with-purchase offers. And there must be over 1,000 recipes on their website.
Today they had a new sign in the window:
WELCOME
DIVERSITY
EQUITY
INCLUSION
I told the sales clerk that I like the sign and gave her a thumbs up.
Please let me know if this is the wrong forum. I figured this post falls under politics. And if I have to change forums, is there an easy way to do it without retyping the whole thing?

(28 posts)order from a Penzey's catalogue in 1994. Kept doing that until I was able to order online. They opened a retail store in Overland Park, KS, about eight miles from my house, and I've been shopping there ever since. Coarse ground black pepper is the best there is.

(24,618 posts)When I was visiting my cousin in OR last year, we went to visit the Hillsboro store. I was just overcome with emotion while I was there. This company this store these are my people. My parents were Penzeys customers back in the day and theyve been gone for many many years. I know it sounds silly but it just felt so darned good to be in that place. It felt safe. The cashier noticed my tears and she gifted me their Choose Love yard sign when I checked out.
MIButterfly
(2,187 posts)It sounds like such a good experience for you. I'm glad. And I'm not surprised at the kindness of the cashier; they hire some good people there.
Thank you for sharing your story with us!

(5,841 posts)Super high quality, and a great company to do business with.
When they had their downtown Seattle store I was in there just about every Thursday. When that closed they had one in Lynnwood for a while but that also closed, so now it's all mail-order for us. The vast majority of my spice drawer and cabinet are Penzey's, and I buy the most-used items in the bulk bags, like Italian Sausage seasoning, Bavarian, Granulated Garlic Powder (tastes very close to fresh garlic, without that 'toasted' flavor that most garlic powder has).
Definitely, sign up for their email list if you haven't already. Great messaging along with some very good deals.
