The Trump administration appears to be deploying the same playbook it used in Minnesotaleveraging allegations of fraud to justify significant federal oversightin other blue states across the country, starting with California and New York.
POTUS loves Minnesota and the people. Its a state where he received historic Republican support, and he has long called out [Governor Tim] Walz for his incompetence and terrible leadership, a senior White House official tells WIRED. The fraud is so blatant and widespread that its a good place to start, but its only the beginning. CA and NY next.

(27,495 posts)There's a reason the regime is targeting Minneapolis: it's a small enough city that they can flood it with federal agents, and easily outnumber the local authorities. (Not that it's working so well for them anyway.)
Imagine them trying to do the same to NYC, LA, or the SF Bay area. Hell, imagine them trying to do that to any combination of the three simultaneously. They'd have no chance. Which is why the fears of "he'll use the Insurrection Act and impose martial law" are so pointless. There aren't enough military forces to successfully occupy even the blue cities, let alone all the country.

(3,549 posts)But with the latter it would be, lets just say, more "justified". Not saying either will happen although I do think an attempt at the Insurrection Act, at least in isolated locations, will be tried. And you are right. This country is big enough that the military can't control large areas unless they start shooting. Thats where the cookie crumbles. And I do believe as "divided" as this country may seem, we are nowhere near a Civil War type division and a military starting to shoot would only pull this country more together than apart IMO. Plus they aren't being to smart about it if their reasoning is to use either to affect the midterms. They better slow their roll because in no way would this country put up with something like martial law for very long. Of course there's always the possibility of some kind of MAJOR False Flag type event, and I mean major like a dirty bomb taking out half a million people.
An ACTUAL terrorist attack like that scares me more than any other scenario actually because these guys can't even tie their shoes and we are as unprepared as perhaps anytime in our history to an attack.

(30,026 posts)Yesterday they raided an apartment complex in Grandview,MO and also snagged a student at the local high school. Similar reports are coming out of St Louis.
I know they're worried in KC. Other cities have kept it relatively non violent. KC and St Louis regularly show up year after year as two of the most violent cities in the US. Threats have already been made. The worry is that between residents being angry and the III%ers coming in to stir up trouble- cesspool of violence.

(129,329 posts)to combat the white-collar crime of fraud, whether committed by immigrants or citizens? Fraud investigations are normally carried out by the FBI's forensic accountants and other bean-counter types, which is exactly what was done wrt MN's Feeding Our Future welfare fraud cases. There were paper trails, as there always are in such cases, and the books were examined, the fraud was discovered and the crooks - none of whom were undocumented immigrants - were prosecuted. It was not necessary for armed ICE agents to storm people's homes or snatch suspects off the streets. And now the US Attorney who prosecuted the cases and who knows how to do fraud prosecutions better than anyone, has quit in protest because he was told to prosecute Renee Good's widow!
None of this has anything to do with fraud.

That shit ain't gonna work in NYC. There are 10,000 people per square inch and every one of them loves their neighbor.

(4,606 posts)couldn't a federal judge put a TRO on ice until the Good murder is adjudicated? Thus forcing some sort of moderated outcome? Seems like things are setting up for a dangerous game of chicken between both administrations.
