RFK's *new* upside down FOOD PYRAMID. Thoughts?

The White House unveiled new dietary guidelines Wednesday, with officials calling it the “most significant reset of federal nutrition policy in history,” though many core recommendations stayed the same.

The guidelines are represented by an upside-down pyramid placing vegetables, fruits, proteins, dairy and healthy fats at the top and whole grains at the bottom.

Although Kennedy repeatedly spoke in favor of eating more saturated fats, reiterating his aim of ending the “war on saturated fats,” the guidelines notably did not deviate from the long-held guidance to limit saturated fat consumption to 10 percent of daily intake.

During the press briefing Wednesday, Oz also offered clarification when it came to alcohol, saying, “There is alcohol on these dietary guidelines, but the implication is don’t have it for breakfast.”

As far as glyphosate and pesticides go esp if you get grass fed/grass finished. Now millions of Americans are on the carnivore diet and say they feel better. Meat is probably safer than large fish with all its mercury.

In the old version, grains and cereals were promoted. If not organic, they are heavy on the pesticides and often dried with glyphosate being sprayed so they dry uniformly. Grains have little protein.

Just like everything else Trump and his psychpants put out. That's not a food pyramid. It's a nonsensical graphic. Which morons, besides Brain Worm Bobby, thought that putting out this idiotic shit was a good idea?

Basically, get protein and vegetables in and go to carbs last since you eat such small portions.

As a very active menopausal woman, my doctor has me on a 1.2 g per kg of body weight, so about 81G a day. that doesn't sound like a lot... until I actually try to get it all in. I'm a recovered carboholic, and my old protein intake was SCANT. I don't eat a whole lot of food (GLP user) so I have to be super strategic to get enough protein in. I do think I spent much of my life on the bread end of the pyramid so the past 13 months with protein goals have been a major lifestyle change and its been challenging at times.

The Japenese paste, miso is a probiotic that makes plant protein much more absorbable. Doesnt have to be mixed, just eaten some times. It populates the gut to ne primed to get better protein absorbtion from plants.

It's unnecessary to frame it as a pyramid. The previous pyramid signified amounts: more of what was at the bottom and less of what was at the top. Here, there are pretty much equal amounts of everything just shaped as a pyramid. It's essentially just a troll on the old design, which is exactly what I'd expect from these MAGA clowns. There are plenty of good reasons to revise the old food pyramid. There's no reason for a government agency to just be out there trolling it with confusing if not meaningless graphic design.

Are they trying to make it seem old-timey for legitimacy?

While I don’t necessarily disagree with what I think the message is, it’s a confusing infographic.

but correct inasmuch as veggies should rate relatively high and breads relatively low. That said, eating (for example) true sourdough type bread is not the same as plain white - and so on. One size fits all graphs are not that helpful. Really, diet needs to be tailored to a person's physical characteristics and digestion profile. I eat quite a lot of North Atlantic mackerel, cheese and chicken and should balance with more cruciferous veggies. But regarding the graph, it's honestly not terrible. A blind squirrel occasionally finds an acorn.

No pesticides, chemicals and lots of quality protein.

Compare that to the grains that used to be on top - lots of GMO grains sprayed with tons of pesticides. Have you read the ingredients in a loaf of bread or cereal?

There is a lot of fat and carbs in that pyramid, the results won't be any different.

And if you don't get the pesticides and growth hormones out you're wind up with a lot of cancer.

Karl Marx was accused of turning the world upside down. This diet is more scrambled than anything else.

And recommending eating butter by spoonfuls. Eggs are one of the most nutritious foods - having every vitamin and mineral.

The old food pyramid emphasized grains - like 11 or so servings a day. Now grains are mostly gross - read the labels. Most grains are now basically processed food unless you make your own. A loaf of bread will last months because of all the chemicals.

I bake my own sourdough bread but I do not expect to get high quality protein from my bread.

We have to add our own flax meal, chia seeds, oat bran. Graham flour was the whole what kernel, now they separate it and sell the components which never make it into ordinary baking. Many types of refined carbs - starches - are used as food stretchers. They adulterate the product to make more money.
