2. Pretty sure "If it's needed" equates to "if the country decides to fight back in any significant way"

Because everyone there is thrilled to give up their sovereignty and become slaves to the worst people on the planet.

I get that some people are happy to have the old boss gone but they’re really not going to like the new one. We’ve seen this movie before.

9. History strongly suggests that whoever takes Maduro's place will be a right-wing asshole dictator

Whose real allegiance will not be to their country.

Not that I'm particularly convinced Maduro's was either. Chavez, I did believe that about, at least in the beginning.

I feel like our main focus (as decent human beings like we are) should quickly shift to demanding self-determination vs. staying focused on this day's action, arguing about it's "illegality" and such. Complaints that will get us nowhere, just as they haven't in the past. The moral, upstanding position to take at this point is "let THEM choose". It would optimally become a minor "movement" among Democrats, as it's both righteous and morally unassailable.

She assumed she'd be the leader. So maybe it's a warning to her and her supporters that they'd better not fight back?

Trump on María Corina Machado: "I think it'd be very tough for her to be the leader. She doesn't have the support or the respect within the country. She's a very nice woman but she doesn't have the respect."
