Donald Trumps furious late-night announcement that trade negotiations with Canada have been terminated may have repercussions beyond just a war on words with Americas neighbor.
During a discussion on MSNBCs Morning Joe about the presidents late night outburst on Truth Social about an ad featuring Ronald Reagan, where Trump wrote, They only did this to interfere with the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, and other courts. TARIFFS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY, AND ECONOMY, OF THE U.S.A. Based on their egregious behavior, ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE HEREBY TERMINATED, Jonathan Lemire raised the prospect it could impact the World Series which begins Friday night.
Speaking with the panel about how Trump has reignited his war with Canada for sketchy reasons, Lemire brought up the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on the Blue Jays in Toronto before a worldwide television audience.

Hey dude that graduated from the Wharton School of Business..................what's the difference between tariffs and sanctions..................apparently it appears you are using both against Canada since they showed an ad about that a**hole Reagan............and somehow in-between the tearing down of the East Wings of We the Peoples house you throw a fit ........ and to add further insult the US government is shut down going on day 25 and what have you said about it....................nothing, nada, zero.............what a loser...............

..........
In the weeks leading up to the visit, past comments from manager Dave Roberts, in which he stated that he would skip a White House visit if Trump were in office, again came to the forefront. Mookie Betts skipped the White House visit when the Boston Red Sox won it all in 2018, but he said Friday that he didn't want his absence to become a storyline and so he would be at the White House in 2025.
Betts and Roberts both made the trip Monday.

(771 posts)I would love it if the World's sports teams boycotted ANY event held in the U.S......World Championships, Olympics, etc etc......
Then the U.S. Athletes and sports teams could be just like Trump, who plays his new golf courses by himself, and then claims he was the champion of the opening course tournament.....
We all saw his behavior at the World Cup Soccer match...........Absolutely despicable, and disgraceful..............why allow that to ever happen again??????

(771 posts)basking in the glory of 85,000 people cheering, and delusionally *fantasizing* it was HIM they were cheering...........He even had a copy of the Major award made for his gold collection in the Oval Office, and tried to palm one of the player medallion............
I wonder if he even begins to understand how pathetic he is????????
I swear, if any EMT or Paramedic had him as a patient, with him doing all his totally delusional shit, they would ask the Police to put a 72 hour mental health hold on him........;seriously..........
After us watching the past 45 years, and especially the last 9 years, I still can't begin to believe this is truly happening to our beloved USA, Our beloved Constitution, and our beloved democracy............
Hell has opened its doors, and released the worst hellians ever on us..................Same with the Hospitals for the criminally insane who released all their patients to fill Trump's/Republican's advisors, cabinet members, supreme court, and advisers....

(6,846 posts)the American team on the playing field? You know, hit a grand slam or two? OTOH if the Dodgers win it will most likely be because of the Superman from Japan, Shohei Ohtani. Either way, the "World" series finally sees some diversity... other than the perennial Spanish speaking contingent, that is.

(19,818 posts)and even I want the Jay's to win it all. The Dodgers are pretty much unbeatable right now, though. Until MLB does something about L.A. deferring salaries far into the future, they'll continue to spend like sailors on shore leave.
GO TORONTO! 😁

(2,845 posts)Im cheering for the AL East champion Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays had a fine year in winning a tough division and they survived a tough series with Seattle to get to face the Dodgers. And I have nothing against the Dodgers- they are an outstanding team and Shohei Ohtani is a phenomenal player.

(1,678 posts)But there is absolutely nothing normal about Trump. He has absolutely no self control. When his little feelings are hurt he is a raging bull. At a minimum I would expect at least some threats.
Remember, the Blue Jays are playing the LA Dodgers. That is Canadians vs losers from CA. What could go wrong?
Justice matters.
(9,029 posts)The Toronto Blue Jays have players of diverse nationalities, including American (Bo Bichette, George Springer), Mexican (Alejandro Kirk), Cuban (Yariel Rodríguez), and Canadian (Vladimir Guerrero Jr.). The roster includes players from various backgrounds, reflecting a mix of international talent.
American: Bo Bichette, George Springer, and other players like Tyler Heineman are from the United States.
Mexican: Alejandro Kirk is from Tijuana, Mexico.
Cuban: Yariel Rodríguez is a professional pitcher from Cuba.
Canadian: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was born in Montreal, giving him Canadian citizenship.
Vladimir Guerrero Sr. was playing right field for the defunct Montreal Expos when he was born.

How about trump instead of the Catching Mitt or whatever was used, with his open mouth sliding back and forth while an F-16 drops loads of feces for him to catch ( precedent set with his ad!)? Someone who is capable of modding a game for today's computers would really piss him off. Then when he's "full", he "dumps" it on all the MAGAts below.
Now I wish Id spent more time learning about computer game production instead of stupid satellite optics.

(7,900 posts)They are static while commerce is dynamic.
The history is that Trump, in his first term cancelled NAFTA and signed a new agreement. Earlier this year he cancelled that agreement and signed a new agreement. He then canceled that agreement and was in talks for a replacement agreement and now walked out on those talks. At least that keeps the coverage of the Epstein tapes off the front page. Never mind how foolish and incompetent it makes him look.

(45,738 posts)The story, such as it is, raises the prospect that the Toronto fans will boo the US national anthem. Just as the national anthem was booed during a US v Canada hockey match. I dont remember that event causing chaos and neither will fans booing the anthem tonight.
But for some reason we still allow BS from Raw Story to be posted here.

(13,019 posts)The Wharton School of Business usually refers to their highly respected, MBA program, but Donald Trump did not earn an MBA there. He reportedly took some finance classes in their undergraduate program, although no one knows whether he hired someone to take classes and tests for him. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and earned no soecial academic honors.

To give the Dodgers a World Series win with a Trump asterisk.
MLB is compromised by money with a growing dependence on gambling and an impending future player strike; too expensive for most families because of cost.
