General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHaving done some restoration work on 17th and 18th
century homes and restored furniture from those time periods, I admired the craftsmanship of the carpenters and furniture makers.
Having hunted through many salvage yards, I know the door and window casings alone would be cherished for their White House identity.
What savages we have managing our country.
Is this what we accept as a nation?
I continue to be sickened.

As was a good chunk of the ground floor of the EW.
The 2nd floor and part of the ground floor of the EW was from 1942.
Historical societies spent over a month going over the place and removing things. The actual offices were relocated over a month ago.
But you're right, people would have paid a pretty penny for some of the stuff that was just trashed.

(7,966 posts)...and you're right. Everything salvageable should have been removed before demolition of the structure. Clearly it wasn't.
I think Trump just wanted to do it quickly before people realized what was happening. He didn't want to take a chance that anyone could stop it.
