Holy Shit!

Satellite images show before and after of demolition of White House East Wing

The East Wing, where first ladies created history, planned state dinners and promoted causes, is now history itself. The two-story structure of drawing rooms and offices, including workspace for first ladies and their staffs, has been turned into rubble, demolished as part of the Republican president's plan to build what he said is now a $300 million ballroom nearly twice the size of the White House.

This satellite image from Planet Labs PBC shows the White House in Washington, Sept. 26, 2025, with the East Wing intact before demolition began.

USA has been blessed with any excellent First Ladies.

Trump pulled the First Ladies rug out from under her feet in the destruction of the East Wing where Melania is the present occupant as First Lady that is conspicuous by her absence.

Thu Oct 23, 2025, 05:32 PM
Thursday

Directly beneath the East Wing of the White House is the Presidential Emergency Operations Center.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_Emergency_Operations_Center

Dump has reportedly collected $300 million from private donors (largely corporate) for the construction of his ballroom. But, no ballroom should cost that much; the price per square foot is orders of magnitude off.

There's a good possibility that the money is being channeled into upgrading Trump's military bunker beneath the ballroom and that it's for the lovely things has has planned for us later on.

If the goal is to massively renovate the bunker and give it more hardened fortifications, maybe they're working on it now and the work on the building will be a pretext for the noise and equipment necessary to work on the bunker. Also, it's hardened to survive bombing, so heavy equipment on the ground above may not disturb it.

FDR originally built the East Wing in 1942 to camoflage the bunker he was building below it to withstand possible German bombing in WWII. The East Wing has a long history of disguising the bunker. Trump ran down there in 2020 when he was scared of Black Lives Matter protests outside. Given how incredibly quickly they've put the funds together, drawn up the architectural plans and begun construction, it's a priority item. Dump probably cares more about the bunker than the ballroom.

Ludicrous relocation........ Dubious that any of the current, trained employees, would want to move down to some hot humid, suck hole, Gulf State......... from Colorado........

My second really big trip across the US '80 before I went to CS, I spent 2 days with my cousin in Denver (going to Denver Uni). He took me to Red Rocks (non event time), to Golden, and then up to Echo Lake - north east of Mt Evans/Blue Sky. I still have a few slides/photos!
Have one of the Continental Divide from Echo Lake. Being a bit of a geography buff - that was thrilling. And sooo beautiful!

Oh, just remembered looking at the photos of the AF Acdmy they mentioned The Pool. I'm going check

ETA. Wow that's an extra long pool with a totally separate diving area, away ftom the swimming lanes. And all the different diving platforms! And a very interesting architectural ceiling design, too.

popsdenver

77. Yup
Sat Oct 25, 2025, 12:41 PM

The diving section is 20' deep, with two one meter boards, two three meter boards....a five meter platform and a ten meter platform.
The diving area is separated from the swimming area by a permanent bulkhead that goes down about six feet. That is where the starting blocks are for races......when you finish your race, you just swim under the bulkhead and surface in the diving section. There is another moveable bulkhead in the swimming section. Depending on what kind of meet is taking place, it can go from 25yds, to 25meters, to 50 yds, to 50 meters. At 50 meters, the water depth is still 3.5 feet, with 10 yds more pool. The first 25 meters from the permanent bulkhead is 8 feet deep for water polo competition..There is room where you can go down to a wide underwater window to see the divers as they enter the water, There is a large spectator area, slightly higher, for a great view of Diving or Swimming. The best part is the decks around the entire pool and in the locker rooms, are heated.

I always joked with team mates that if the U.S. Government was gonna spend money.....they should spend it like this!

Like I said, I have never seen or heard of a pool like this in the entire U.S.

The German term for this psychopathic state is “Zerstoerungslust”, a lust to destroy. It is the desire to destroy, both things and people. Destroying the East Wing is only the latest example. Trump will attempt to destroy everything and everyone that he thinks is somehow standing in his way or not bending to his will. It is a compulsion. Destruction is the point. He must be stopped before he destroys everything.
