American whites are evenly divided on Trump, everyone else despises him.

(13,575 posts)This type of poll focuses too much on the clickbait idea of do I like or dislike this person. It's a thinly disguised popularity contest geared toward getting clicks from both the popular and unpopular side.
A lot of the people who voted for Trump have an unfavorable opinion of him. They just have a lot more of an unfavorable opinion of his opponents, us. Politics make strange bedfellows.
Our job as Democrats is not to sit comfortably in our armchairs and hope that Trump drives people our way. It's to get people to vote for us. We need to stop interpreting polls that show Trump as unpopular as good news. It's good, of course, but it's not as good as us getting our ducks in a row, working on getting back Obama voters, etc.
