Fiendish Thingy
(21,111 posts)But theres only a handful that he has convinced Habba and Halligan to risk their law licenses by actually indicting them.
Indicting Smith or Garland for any kind of made up charge would risk the entire body of evidence against Trump in his dismissed charges being made public through the Discovery process- the evidence would be used as a defense against any of the charges.
Smith and Garland appear to be squeaky clean ethically and legally, so I dont expect either of them to be indicted.
Audited by the IRS, perhaps, but not indicted.
Same goes for Lisa Monaco, Bidens deputy AG.

(21,731 posts)As of April 2023, Donald Trump has been credibly accused of committing at least 56 criminal offenses since he launched his campaign for president in 2015. That total only reflects allegations relating to his time in or running for office and omits, for instance, Trumps criminal exposure for fraudulent business dealings.

So, cite your source next time.
Also, funny that President Biden didnt give Merrick the Meek a pardon.

(42,348 posts)like continuing to make shit up Re Biden pardoning Garland? Again you don't know what you're talking about, since Merrick Garland committed no crime nor had any conviction to be pardoned. Get the facts straight.
Garland was already on the classified documents case months before he appointed Smith, and turned over all the Mar-al-Lago classified documents and investigation records at that point. He got one of Smith's cases up and running long in advance of trump announcing his rerun for president.
While you're at it, cite your own source for your totally wrong judgy mcjudge take on Garland in the OP.

(42,348 posts)Who during his 1,000 days in office, prioritized:
January 6th investigations:
Garland has repeatedly described the prosecution of those involved in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol as one of the most resource-intensive investigations in the department's history. As of early 2025, the DOJ had charged more than 1,500 individuals and obtained numerous convictions.
Violent crime:
Combating violent crime, particularly gun violence, has been a major priority. Garland has frequently cited the use of data-driven strategies and partnerships with state and local law enforcement.
Corporate and health care fraud:
The DOJ ramped up its use of data analytics to identify and prosecute fraud cases, particularly in the health care industry. It has also initiated a high number of False Claims Act cases on its own, not solely relying on whistleblower complaints.
Data analytics for foreign corruption:
In late 2023, the DOJ announced it was using data analytics to proactively identify and prosecute foreign corruption cases, a new approach for this type of enforcement.
Antitrust enforcement:
In May 2024, the DOJ filed a major lawsuit against Live Nation-Ticketmaster to break up the company's alleged monopoly, signaling a focus on antitrust cases in the entertainment industry.
All the above while running eight major DOJ divisions and five federal law enforcement agencies of 115,000 employees, and coordinating enforcement across 50 countries, during which he still got 1,270 Jan 6 convictions out of 1,500 DOJ cases.
Name even one, just one, lawyer in this country who could have run the DOJ better for 1,000 days. You can't.

They knew exactly what they were doing and their decision was fascist BULLSHIT as well-- a ruling that greatly complicated Dump's prosecution.
