"Carrier is honored to provide the new iconic ballroom with a world-class, energy-efficient HVAC system"

The White House has said it will disclose information on who has contributed money to build the ballroom, but has yet to do so.

Trump also said at last week's event that the head of Carrier Global Corp., a leading manufacturer of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, had offered to donate the air conditioning system for the ballroom.

Carrier confirmed to The Associated Press on Monday that it had done so. A cost estimate was not immediately available.

“Carrier is honored to provide the new iconic ballroom at the White House with a world-class, energy-efficient HVAC system, bringing comfort to distinguished guests and dignitaries in this historic setting for years to come,” the company said in an emailed statement.

Donald Trump’s Carrier Deal Is a Scam

Don’t be fooled by President-elect Donald Trump’s “deal” with air conditioning manufacturer Carrier. It’s not a deal, it’s a bribe—a bad one. And it’s a fraud.

Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence rewarded Carrier with $7 million in tax incentives only after the company threatened to send 2,000 jobs overseas. For all of Trump’s tough talk about companies facing consequences for moving jobs out of the United States, it appears that his plan in practice is to line companies’ pockets as these companies continue to lay off their workers.

New systems with 454 B do not dehumidify. They've rewritten the SEER ratings. If you live in a humid climate, make sure at least you buy one that can be jumpered to dehumidify but, of course, you won't get the same efficiency they are boasting.

How does an AC unit get "jumpered" to dehumidify?

ACs removed humidity because the evaporator coil is cold and it sweats, the sweat runs down the coil and into a pan which then drains the water to either an interior drain line or to the outside. Dehumidifiers work the same way, there is a coil and it sweats and the humidity, on cheap ones, drains into a tank that is emptied.

How can it not dehumidify?

I am EPA certified to handle refrigerants and I can not find anything, nor have I heard anything, about SEER rating being changed under the current administration.

The last things that changed is usually called SEER2, which was done in 2023, and t2024, under the last administration and it has nothing to do with how it is calculated which remains BTU/Watt hours. The last changes simply increased the minimum SEER rating that manufactures can produce. and what licensed HVAC contractor can install and under what circumstances.

ACs do not make cold air, they never have, neither does your refrigerator. They move heat, that is all. Refrigerants; ammonia, carbon dioxide, isobutane, and synthetic fluids, such as chlorofluorocarbons move heat through evaporation or condensation, giving you an condensing unit, outside, and a evaporator, inside.

They all work the same, and they all do the same thing.

Very curious how you came across with this statement, am I missing something?

... Burroughs, IBM, Univac, etc..

They lost their share of the HVAC market in much the same way the Big Iron computer companies lost their share of the computer market, by underestimating the new technologies and shifting markets that were about to overwhelm them.

The only thing that saved Carrier as a viable corporation was moving their factories out of the U.S.A. and utilizing more foreign components.

Trump and Pence made a deal with Carrier to keep some manufacturing in the U.S.A., promising thousands of jobs, but those jobs have slowly evaporated.

Carrier Statement Regarding Indianapolis Operations
Nov 30, 2016

INDIANAPOLIS

Carrier today released the following statement:

Carrier has had very productive conversations in recent days with President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence.

We have negotiated an agreement with the incoming administration that we believe benefits our workers, the state of Indiana and our company.

We are announcing today that Carrier will continue to manufacture gas furnaces in Indianapolis, in addition to retaining engineering and headquarters staff, preserving more than 1,000 jobs.

Carrier will also designate its Indianapolis manufacturing facility as a Center of Excellence for gas furnace production, with a commitment to making significant investments to continue to maintain a world-class furnace factory.

Last year, my wife and I moved out of our first house, which we bought in 2004. The house had a 2-year-old Trane at the time we purchased it. A full 22 years after it was installed, the thing was still running just fine. We had some work done on it halfway through our time in that house. The tech said the compressor was not in good shape and could go at any time, or last another five years. That was in 2014. When we sold the house, we questioned whether the new owners would have to replace it. IN August, we happened to be in our old neighborhood visiting friends. The new owners left the gate open and we could see into the side yard and sure enough, the Trane was still going. When we have to replace the units in our current home I'll be looking at a Trane.
