Former President Barack Obama added to growing calls for aid in Gaza as dozens of Palestinians have perished from starvation and global experts warn of looming famine in the region.
Aid must be permitted to reach people in Gaza, Obama wrote in a Sunday statement on X. There is no justification for keeping food and water away from civilian families.
In his statement, Obama linked to a New York Times story featuring accounts from physicians and civilians. One parent described frantically searching for milk for her toddler, while another spoke of how his child was suffering from malnutrition and in intensive care. Some arrive shivering from hunger, Mohammad Saqr, head of the nursing department at Nasser Medical Complex, told The Times.

(386 posts)After walking a long and exhausting distance to fill a jerrycan with water, I discovered that it was contaminated with worms. One of my children was crying from severe thirst, and just as I was about to give them a drink, I noticed some worms floating in the water. If we dont die from the bombing, well die from disease. This is our harsh reality in Gaza.

This is the type of flour currently available to civilians in the Gaza Strip !
As famine persists due to Israels complete closure of all border crossings, people have been forced to consume whatever is available including flour infested with weevils and worms, or past its expiration date because no other options remain.
