Lara Trump is no longer her father-in-law’s choice to run for Senate in North Carolina.

The former co-chair of the Republican National Committee dropped the surprise announcement Thursday morning in a statement on X.

“After much consideration and heartfelt discussions with my family, friends, and supporters, I have decided not to pursue the United States Senate seat in North Carolina at this time,” she said.

I don't know what kind of ego Lara has, but chances are very good that, as a carpetbagger associated with Trump (think Dr. Oz) she would take a real pounding.

but she was born there, grew up there and went to college there so she at least had more legitimate ties to the state than she had to Florida. She lives in Florida now but has only done so for 3 years.
