This was in the comment section of a BluSky post about Hunter Biden.

The post was a run down on his recent interview. The comments were very supportive of him. However, there were more than a few that had something like this:

Now, I am very progressive and I do feel that our 'higher ups' are a bit stuck in yesterday when it comes to how we are going to defeat the rethugs in these modern times. (A debate for another time.)

But, NOT voting is not going to solve shit right now. And, this is from someone who feels it is just as much an American right to not vote as it is to vote.

1. On "Not Voting" -- EVEN IF you're not all-in on a Democratic candidate...

... you know you're ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN you don't want the Republican, AND SO YOUR JOB becomes to counteract a Republican vote in your precinct by voting for the Democrat -- because, even though you may not be 100% supportive of that particular Democrat, you know they're at least pulling in the same general direction that you want to go. In the game of political tug-of-war with today's Republicans, it's all hands on deck: even a DINO exerts SOME pull for your team. Not casting a ballot lets another Republican vote count for something. The rightwing is too dangerous these days to risk any legislator/governor/school board member seat getting filled by another Republican butt.

I can’t even listen to his full F word driven rant. He did nothing but harm his father. The drugs, pictures with prostitutes, etc etc etc.

How can comments be mostly positive. He now attacks the rest of the Democratic Party? He’s not qualified to speak on anything.

Referring to when he was addicted to drugs. People in that position do bad things and make poor decisions and poor choices when they’re in the grip of addiction. He got himself cleaned up, owned what he did and worked to make amends and get his life turned around. The only people that used Hunter to hurt his dad were magats. As for the F words, I’d probably be using that word a lot, too, out of anger and frustration at the absolute hell he and his family were put through. Sometimes that’s the only word that can fully express what you’re feeling and it’s not the 1950s any more. The F word is pretty widely used these days so not such a biggie, imo.

5. His father forgave him, and never stopped loving him.

Which is all that really matters, especially when it comes to people who have nothing to do with their family.

As for attacking the Democratic Party, that's not what he did. He went after the part of them who drove his father out of the race, like George Clooney and the Pod Save America guys. And, I'm right there with him on that. Fuck those guys.

If even 10% of the people who voted for Biden in 2020 voted Democrat in 2024, instead of sitting it out, we would have President Harris now, instead of this fucking nightmare.

We don't follow in step like they do. If a section is pissed about a certain thing say Gaza or whatever they don't vote or go third party. We have to stick together to win.

Tasked with demoralizing dems and normalizing not voting for an imperfect -whatever- while the alternative is a snake pit of evil.
