Will the "Epstein files" be an issue in the mid-terms?

Only if the Democrats make it an issue, in my opinion.

Naturally, the Republicans want it to go away. Democrats should not rely on the MAGA base to make it an issue in the next election. They may be off on some other wild conspiracy theory by then?

But the Democrats should be prepared to remind them about how they felt about Epstein way back in July of 2025. It should not be allowed to disappear.

And it will only disappear if the Democrats let it disappear.

If Trump and his DOJ are able to sweep it under the rug at this time, Democrats should just put the issue in their back pocket and bring it out just before the mid-term elections, in my opinion.

It will still be a potent issue.

entirely how Democrats at the grass roots' level deals with it today, for tomorrow is always a direct result of today. (This includes the DU community.)

Recommended.

would be a big mistake. That issue and all the others, there are so many.

but, as you say, only as "an" issue (one of many).

There are so many other issues (healthcare access, human rights, immigration) that impact people's day-to-day life, and none of those should be surrendered in the name of pinning our hope on a scandal.

They are desperately trying to make mountain out of a mole hill. Because they believe that's what it will take to get Epstein off the radar. Hence why I think Hunter Biden should have not done that interview. Just gives them more ammo as they will take his statements out of context and use them.

Complete exhaustion from the daily Trump drama is likely the biggest issue.

Holy fuck man, it feels like it has been 100 years since January.

repubs either will vote to release the Epstein files, and trump will be exposed, or they will vote not to, in which case they need to be pummeled mercilessly

"We're helping trump fulfill his campaign promise of releasing the Epstein tapes, which repeatedly promised his
voters. Republicans, why are you against that?!?"

A lot of points to be scored along those lines. trump lies to his base all the damn time. But they always are lies that they WANT to year. This lie is different and they are not happy.

I think NEITHER side wants this out, as it probably sullies both parties and both parties know it.

That's why it was never released in the last four years and no huge outcry to release it now.
