'GOP lawmaker sparks town hall fury after admitting he goofed up on bill'

"A GOP lawmaker's town hall in Seward, Nebraska, went sideways on Tuesday night after Rep. Mike Flood (R-NE) admitted he didn't read everything that was contained in the 'big, beautiful' budget bill the House narrowly approved."

"According to NBC News' Raquel Coronell Uribe, 'The questions only got more intense from there, with attendees grilling him on a number of topics, from Medicaid cuts to his voting record to changes in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program."

"This is not the first time Flood has run into a buzz saw at a town hall. In March he was showered with cries of 'shame,' as he defended cuts being made by Donald Trump's administration."

Is like considering the Bible to some. You dont have to read it to know it’s just so good for everyone. Just do like the stupid people who trump loves - BELIEVE. No reason to know stuff.

Because that's what they always do. And those constituents will still vote for him again because that is what they always do as well--because at the end of the day it's better to lose your farm and your healthcare than to allow a boy to play a girl's sport, limit the capacity of a gun magazine, give one inch on abortion, or let a foreigner improve the life of their family.

As to his "didn't read the whole bill" excuse, both Medicaid and SNAP cuts were spoken of in Democratic speeches, media stories and very likely CONSTITUENT calls, letters, emails etc

He is thus either a liar or not even trying to hear his constituents.

If you can’t read the bill, at least listen to the Cliff Notes on the talk shows. The problem is, they don’t believe there’s such a thing as a honest Democrat. And I don’t believe there’s such a thing as a serious Republican. he won’t have to suffer any consequences because of this.

It's hard to take these idiots seriously. Good on the constituency that they held him accountable. Let's just hope they do the same in the voting booth.

Can't they all go over a piece of the bill and report back to him? A little group discussion would help make it clear what this bill is all about.
Just what is he too busy doing that he can't do his job?
This bill is deliberately long and convoluted so as to discourage the kind of scrutiny it needs. A trillion dollar "beautiful piece of shit" is what it is.
There's so much in this bill that isn't budget related that the bill needs to be rejected and cleansed from all the garbage that's in it, and then resubmitted.
I'll bet if they did that the bill would be about 1/3 as long as it is now.
Not only is Flood afraid to challenge Trump, he's also too lazy to read the GD bill!
I think he should resign. He's not worthy to be in the Congress making decisions that shape the future of the nation.
