I'm old enough to remember when the US Post Office could be trusted .

Mail arrived daily, outgoing items were picked up from your home mailbox, your bill payments made it and posted before due dates, and delivery came no matter the weather conditions.
Within the last 4 months, I have had numerous days without delivery (I live in town), 3 separate payments never made it to their destinations, and a bank draft from Canada never showed up. One other quarterly payment took 4 1/2 weeks to be accepted and cashed by an insurance company, leading to my policy being canceled and then reinstated.

This was late 70s early 80s. Dad used to write (type) me a letter once a week. They almost always arrived within two days. Just regular mail.

But it was, by the FBI without a warrant in the late 1930s, when the administration was looking for possible Nazi sympathizers.

... a box and they got caught in a machine. I knew it was likely when I sent them.

I've sent a ton of things all around the US, from Nebraska, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Arizona and Texas. I've found the personnel have always been helpful and pleasant, without fail. I may have had a letter go astray for a week or two but they always get delivered.

we've also dealt with post offices in Canada, France, Mauritania, Taiwan, Chad, and Thailand. If you think the US Post Office has a problem, try the post offices in those countries! Canada has icely cold polite people who will not help you unless you ask the right question. The other countries were incompetent, corrupt, over staffed with people working for micromanaging bosses.

I love the US Post Office. Even that prick DeJoy couldn't screw it up beyond repair.

I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties.

There are three post offices I deal with in the Catskills, one in New York, one nearby in Pennsylvania and the other in New York City. The are each staffed with excellent, friendly and helpful folks who go out of their way to help with anything I need from the USPS. Further, I haven't experienced any of the troubles you've described.

Please don't think I'm arguing or being contrary. I've heard lots of horror stories from others and your experiences ring true. I guess I've just been lucky.
