Noticeable decline in tourism in NYC

This weekend my husband and I went into Manhattan (the "city", as we used to call it growing up in Brooklyn) to see Operation Mincemeat on Broadway.
We had to pass through Times Square on foot and we noticed there were substantially fewer people on the streets. I asked a guy operating one of those pedal carts that ferry tourists around if there were fewer patrons and he said yes, it's been bad.
Krasnov strikes again.

My friend is a busker in Central Park and he says all the big summer holidays are thin probably because there is a lot going on outside the City -- parades, picnics, graduations, etc.

Aug/Sept is big and Christmas shopping into New Years.

A lot of people get out of New York during the summer holiday weekends. I once walked through Herald Square during 4th of July weekend and there were almost nobody there.

Risk of getting kidnapped by Krasnov’s masked secret police and sent to foreign gulags forever.
