He asked Mike Johnson this morning if he would be objecting if a Dem President held a closed door meeting with crypto donors. (Good question).
The answer was basically I know nothing and then an immediate pivot to how great trump is that went on and on and on.
Jake was perfectly happy with that answer. He didn't seem to feel that it was evasive in any way, or showed that Johnson was not informed or heaven forbid, "out of it."
It's obvious his credo is R's are to be trusted and taken at face value. They are intrinsically competent and well informed. And it is an honor to have them on his program.
Vomit worthy double standard.

Johnson uttered normal GOPer BS and Tapper would ask another question. I know we'd all like Tapper, etc., to punch Johnson, trump, etc. I certainly would cheer, but it's not going to happen like that.
Tapper asked, "If a Democratic Prez did what trump did, you wouldn't be outraged?" was a good set up to let Johnson look stupid with his response.

(22,170 posts)Johnson's answer to the crypto question was ridiculous gish gallop and propaganda. Letting it stand is not journalism. Tapper does what he does to maintain access to Rs in power. But access is not journalism and neither is letting ridiculous untrue answers stand.

(9,553 posts)vote for trumpsters.
That's not Tappers or anyone else fault. If media shows trump saying/doing stupid/vile things, they don't need to tell us he did stupid/vile things.
It's when media stops showing them being stupid, racist, etc., that I'll get worried.

(9,553 posts)Tapper set Johnson up with questions, Johnson responded. Anyone not a loyal trumpster will recognize Johnson was lying.

(4,579 posts)He sp oke every night. He once spent most of his show on Watergate explaining the whole conspiracy and exposing the administration's lies. And crospondents working under Cronkite confronted Nixon and his underlings when they lied. Just as Edward R Murrow exposed the lies of Joe McCarthy.
Tapper let Johnson lie and did nothing. That's journalistic malpractice.
And you only know what was obvious to you unless you claim to have power to read the minds of everyone else watching.

(4,975 posts)Tapper wants access. He needs to have a rapport with that bunch of lying pack of racist rePUKES. Sucks to be him. He needs to toady up to his corporate bosses AND not piss off tRUMP. Quite the tightrope Either way, I hate the f6cker
senseandsensibility
(22,170 posts)and in this case it is particularly galling, because even the Tapper defenders KNOW that Jake would never allow a Dem House leader to say that they know nothing about a scandal concerning a President of their own party. He would also not allow a Dem leader to hold forth with nonsense and lies for the majority of the interview. So even if you think that just reciting questions and not challenging the answers is great journalism, it needs to applied evenly to both parties. Sorry for the "lecture" but I'm basically saying I agree with you.

(27,931 posts)Only Democrats are responsible, only they are to blame for literally everything bad in America and around the world.
They know the future and have a time machine to go back and fix things, why do they allow bad things to happen? Majorities and minorities and votes don't matter, if they were authentically passionately fighting they could do anything they wanted to! They're incompetent, out-of-touch, spineless, weak, stupid, old, but at the same time a very powerful corrupt establishment rigging both primary and general elections, plotting at any cost to stop progress, more dangerous than Republicans.
Here, too. Misleading headline about a Democrat or the party? Too many rush to repeat divisive hateful insults, conspiracies, age wars, leadership bashing ... never giving the benefit of the doubt and doing a little research. Bad motivations always assumed.
