Infectious disease experts have previously said the U.S. is likely on track to surpass the 2019 total of 1,274 cases, which were confirmed over the course of a year. This year's total also marks the second highest case count in 25 years, CDC data shows.
The CDC says 12% of measles patients in the U.S. this year have been hospitalized, the majority of whom are under age 19.

(123,268 posts)On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the New Mexico Department of Health held a press conference to provide an update on measles cases at the NMDOH Homestead Facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. According to the department, it is the "largest outbreak" they've seen in years.
NMDOH reports 78 confirmed cases in New Mexico. The latest confirmed cases were detected in Sandoval County and involve four people.

(337 posts)Title is a bit selective. The issue is that really took off with the Mennonite communitys of East Texas. They have sister locations in Mexico. Thats how the disease transfers, but we already know that they will not vaccinate on religious grounds.
