Wish someone in the music industry would organize a concert like "We are the World" or "Farm Aid"...

Last edited Sat May 24, 2025, 07:21 PM - Edit history (1)

like back in the day featuring anti-trump headliners like Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Joan Jett, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Chicks, Bono and the group, and others...maybe as big as Woodstock.

who would be the big headliners (musical activists) these days?

I know of Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus? Is Billy Strings (I like him)? I wish there were some country groups/people like the Dixie Chicks, because that genre seems to be those that represent most of rural America.

Probably some rappers - do they mix with the pop/rock crowd?

People like this make me feel much better about the music of today. I have to admit have long judged Country Music as being pro-GOP/pro-Trump. I was being too judgmental.

But there have always been strong progressive voices mixed in. And the majority of the "best" Country Music has generally come from those Progressive voices.

Or maybe spread shows all over the country at multiple venues. You could have LA, Seattle, Vegas, Denver, Detroit, Atlanta, New York, DC, and so on.

Also, what people do not understand is that the old musical protest paradigms such as LiveAid, Woodstock, Monterey Pop, etc couldn't even beld held today.

They also don't have the cultural significance because most modern music is fractured and uninspired...Most people got their news back then from a few sources and TV....Again, now "news" is fractured and balkanized and no central message for any protesting.

with some relevant comedy, dance, drama, storytelling in addition to music. I don't think artists' active response to these times is passe whatsoever. But it would be a hard thing to pull off financially and logistically. I could design it, but I couldn't begin to fund it.

who up until now have tolerated or supported Trump? Do you really think there would be millions that say "oh, I thought it was all going OK, but now that group I really like have said it isn't, well, I'll join a movement against Trump"? This flies in the face of the experience of the last 60 years.

And being against Trump is not enough anyway. We need the people to be against the Republicans who face re-election in 2026, and in 2028.

They will soon be getting more and more of your tax dollars as soon as Trump pays them off again when his tariffs hit the fan in about 30 days.
