President Trump is refusing to release the guest list of his pay-to-pay crypto dinner, as his press secretary Karoline Leavitt argues that the dinner is in his personal time.
On the presidents dinner tonight, will the White House commit to making the list of the attendees public so people can see whos paying for that kind of access to the president? a reporter asked Leavitt at the White House press briefing on Thursday.
Well as you know, Garret, this question has been raised with the president. I have also addressed the dinner tonight; the president is attending it in his personal time, it is not a White House dinner, it is not taking place here at the White House, Leavitt responded, ignoring the specific question about who was going to be at this dinner. Certainly I can raise that question and try to get you an answer for it.
The dinner will be held at Trumps private golf club in northern Virginia on Thursday evening for the top 220 holders of the presidents cryptocurrencyafter an auction that brought in $147,586,796.41. The event is being promoted as the most EXCLUSIVE INVITATION in the world, according to an email about the event. The top 25 buyers will get an ultra-exclusive private VIP reception and Special VIP Tour with the president.
All of the donors/guests of this event will be completely anonymous, ...

Selling acess dosen't count if you do it on personal time? I guess if you call ot a tip you don't pay taxes on it either. Think the other congress critters will jump on the new bandwagon?

(55,991 posts)If it is not personal time then it is more likely to be deemed part of Official Duties which would shield it from impeachment in 2027 and prosecution in 2029. Is that what you want?

(65,005 posts)By now we should all be fully aware that ANY person or entity, foreign or domestic, friend or enemy, convict or not-yet-convicted, all have unrestricted access to Sweet Potato Hitler so long as they have the cash (or jet, or...). Access to him, and everything he has access to. Worst, he's normalized it.
He's easily the shittiest leader/human being I've ever had the misfortune of sharing a timeline with, and as previously proven, no matter how traitorous his actions, ANGH.

(2,080 posts)Seriously, never again. This is blatant out in the open corruption and pay to play access to the president Ive seen and I guess its fine because its not on government time. So just remember Dems, if Republicans ever accuse you of wrong doing just say its fine, it was on my personal time.

Snark.

Does that announcement need to be made public?
If Trump wasn't President of the United States during the dinner - then who was?
