1. Where did she start crying? What sort of woman bashing is this? She was spouting the line but she never cried.

Both women had a discussion one was right one was wrong or spouting a line ..... no one cried. Let's stop this stupidity.

2. I like it that Sen. Hassan said, "that is not correct," and not "you are wrong."

The juxtaposition of the class and intellect of Hassan versus the woeful ignorance and profound arrogance of Noem could not be anymore vivid that in this short encounter over habeas corpus.

3. Actually, habeas corpus

refers to "have the body"--that is, the body of a crime. The right of habeas corpus means that the government must show that a crime has been committed--that "we have a crime"--before anything else can be done. The immigrants who were deported illegally are those who were denied their right to stand before a judge and be told the crime they supposedly committed, and to reply to that charge. If there is no habeas corpus, no crime has been shown to have been committed, and their deportation is illegal.

Regardless of anything else, it must be shown first that a crime has been committed. Nothing else is supposed to happen without habeas corpus.

6. The body of the person imprisoned, not "of a crime"

writ requiring a person to be brought before a court, mid-15c., Latin, literally " (you should) have the person," in phrase habeas corpus ad subjiciendum "produce or have the person to be subjected to (examination)," opening words of writs in 14c. Anglo-French documents to require a person to be brought before a court or judge, especially to determine if that person is being legally detained. From habeas, second person singular present subjunctive of habere "to have, to hold" (from PIE root *ghabh- "to give or receive" ) + corpus "person," literally "body" (see corporeal). In reference to more than one person, habeas corpora.

Back in elementary (yes, that's right!) school the teacher told us that it meant you are in possession of your body - not someone else, as is a slave - and therefore are entitled to the right of due process and to appeal for bond for you to be set free until trial. New Orleans public school.

BTW, she was referring to slavery in general and in no way was implying that slavery was acceptable under any circumstances; she meant all American citizens were entitled to this under law.

Because the Photoshop is easy to spot, and it casts doubt on the veracity of everythihng else posted.

The sign behind Blondie says "Department of Injustice".
But what's sad is it is entirely possible.
