I have cancer. Again. This cancer is a new cancer. Its not my old breast cancer returning. This is a lung cancer. A big one.
For everyone who is still following this Substack and hoping for an update, there it is.
I broke my DNA. I was a degenerate smoker, and theres payback for that. I have an inoperable oozing pussy gravy sore of a tumor in my left lung. I quit smoking 4 years ago. Ha! My doctor never had me screened for lung cancer. Ha! Shes been my doctor for 10 years! Ha! She forgot that I am an ex-smoker with a history of cancer. She made me come in every three months for Lipitor refills! Hahahahahaha. Yeah, well, hmmm.
Ill try to keep an accurate diary of how disappointed and disgusted we should all be with health care delivery in America.

(110,798 posts)While I only kept up with her in recent years from listeners who posted here, I had a sad feeling when she quit so abruptly that it was something truly awful. It is hard to know what to say. Maybe if I didn't know full well what she is describing and what that portends, it would be easier to say something. As it is, I will say I hope she does receive compassionate care that addresses her needs to the full degree possible. I am extremely saddened she did not receive the preventive care she most certainly SHOULD have before now.
I am sorry to read this-- for her and for those like her who deserve so much better.

(87,167 posts)Shes a shining but VERY hard-won example why NOBODY should smoke cigarettes.
Weve all lost st so many people who were precious to us. As long as there are cigarettes, there will be cancer. Of the lung(s) and beyond. Its a lose-lose proposition all around. For EVERYONE - the smokers and everybody who cares about them.
I wish cigarettes never existed.
