(17,163 posts)Specific Proposals:
Work Requirements: The bill would mandate work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents, requiring them to work or participate in qualifying activities for at least 80 hours per month to maintain Medicaid eligibility.
Eligibility Verification: States would be required to conduct more frequent eligibility checks, potentially leading to increased churn and coverage loss.
Citizenship Verification: Stricter citizenship verification requirements could also lead to coverage loss for eligible individuals.
Funding Cuts to States: The bill proposes to reduce federal funding to states that provide coverage to undocumented immigrants or have expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
Provider Taxes: The bill would limit or eliminate certain taxes that states levy on healthcare providers to help fund their Medicaid programs.
Other Provisions: The bill also includes provisions related to drug pricing, funding for Planned Parenthood, and gender-affirming care for minors.
