This is just sick and beyond the pale. I can't even think of the right words.
ABC has an article where Jake Tapper's book claims the Bidens' "hid" Beau's diagnosis, making the innuendo that it was because Beau still held office.
John McCain "hid" his diagnosis for a while as well, until it was clear it was terminal. I would imagine that in the beginning, there are experimental treatments and other avenues that give hope. There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep your diagnosis private while you investigate every option available to fight the cancer. The public has no business knowing any of this information while you're fighting the battle, while there is still hope. Once you realize the battle is lost, then sure, inform the public (if in public office).
Is nothing sacred anymore? Now they are smearing Beau as well!
I don't even what to share the link to ABC's article as it's trash.

(4,106 posts)ON EDIT: I do not think it is proper for a journalist to use the word "hid" in the context of the Biden family keeping Beau's diagnosis private. A good journalist (which Tapper is not) would use words which simply relate the facts, and which do not have negative connotations. If Tapper felt the need to write about this detail (and I do not see any legitimate reason for him to have done so) Tapper should have written simply that the Biden family did not reveal Beau's diagnosis for a certain interval after it was known to the family. The detail which Tapper is writing about does not deserve to be included in the realm of newsworthy events.

(980 posts)Well they did a pretty lousy job considering I knew about it.
Tapper making a big deal about a delayed announcement of Beau's diagnosis. So what? That's called respect for privacy while fighting the worst battle of your life.
Tapper also quoted an "anonymous insider" stating that Biden's brain "turned to mush" after Beau's death. Did this "anonymous insider" ever lose a child? Does this "anonymous insider" think you just go on as if nothing happened? There is such a thing as "grief brain". Your brain doesn't "turn to mush", but it has to set aside an area for processing grief. Over time, the brain adapts and learns new ways of focusing while always having an area of the brain taken up by your grief.
As a parent who has lost a child, that comment about Biden's brain "turning to mush" infuriates me. It reminds me of judgments and "advice" given to me on how I should be grieving, how long I should be grieving, etc. ALWAYS told to me by those who haven't suffered a traumatic loss.

(5,007 posts)get, is that many people who are in the "spotlight" don't announce personal details. First of all, it's not the public's business unless it will affect a public figure's ability to do his/her job. But in cases like cancer, the sufferer doesn't exactly know when that "can't do" moment will occur. So, the public finds out when that moment has arrived.
Slinging mud at President Biden at this time, in particular, is just plain trashy.

(40,690 posts)Yes, Jake is just a lousy reporter They forget that Beau Biden was Attorney General of Delaware at the time. Im tired of this trashing of Joe Biden, and also the trashing of Americans they are accusing Medicaid fraud. in fact, this administration has no respect for Americans or whatever. They think were all as big crooks as they are. The people in power now cant imagine that anybody is ever motivated by anything except greed and money. The idea of public service is really foreign to them.

(1,819 posts)He went on to cite "anonymous sources" claiming that this is a trait with the Biden family, that they are very private about health issues with family members or things like Hunter's addiction.
That's a bad thing? To keep things that are no one else's business private? I've seen multiple people claim that Jake Tapper contacted Hunter Biden, trying to get the "scoop" on Beau's prognosis. Hunter basically told him to take a hike.
Here is the link to Jake Tapper trying to get Hunter to reveal information on Beau's death. Hunter told him to "F*ck off"

They have no empathy, no ideas, no intellectual curiosity. They are truly hollow men.
As the old quote goes, they know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
How we let them take over journalism in this country is a mystery and a shame.
