Listening to Trump speak to reporters on MSNBC

It was a maelstrom of lies, ridiculous numbers, and charges. None of the reporters, even those prepared with good questions, could stop the torrent of misinformation In real time.

Following the Trump footage, MSNBC did challenge many of the points made. However the earlier footage showed how difficult it really is to counter a loud bully who simply does not value truth or accuracy.

1. You counter him by the one thing they will never do - IGNORE HIM.

The press scumbags who follow him around like Lemmings searching for a cliff are all fools and tools of this charade. I would simply call them whores, but that is an insult to the oldest profession.

Bottom line is this - stop allowing a demented bigot criminal to hold forth on rambling tirades constantly. Either shout him down and make it impossible for him to firehose the lies, or ignore him totally and keep him off camera entirely. This country actually did function for nearly 200 years without the modern TV nonsense. Trump could NEVER happen without the complicity of a press corp and corporate greed machine seeking viewers and clicks and likes in this fucked up "attention economy" that sucks the life out of everything.

No one follows my loud talking, ignorance spewing moronic ass around, braodcasting every subtle jab or wish for Trump's death, demise and downfall. So what is the effect? No one knows anything about me at all. But Trump vomits word puke and the press is busy slathering in it like manna from heaven? They are the new pigs. No longer should anyone ever refer to police as the pigs...it is the press, hands down and by a country mile.

2. As President, they can't not cover him

I get what you are saying that letting him spew they are helping him spread lies.

Your comment that the media as it is today was not there for most American history is thought provoking and obviously true. I wonder if MSNBC or any other media collected the video and rather than show it in real time, take it and edit in their corrections/responses. If they took the entire Trump account augmented by their input, it. could in this case have been out within 15/30 minutes.

Before Trump, presidential debates, SOTU etc were fact checked after the fact. However the "corrections" were few and often nuanced. Sometimes the words said were true, but the people doing the fact check felt that it was important to add other facts. In the Trump era, this passive fact checking is ignored. I think the WP kept a list of inaccurate Trump comments in his first term. I think it ended up over 1000.

4. The list of lies was over 30,000 - but no one seems to care or follow up because he keeps spewing them.

Donald Trump has made tens of thousands of false or misleading claims, including during his first and second terms as President of the United States. Fact-checkers at The Washington Post documented 30,573 false or misleading claims during his first presidential term, an average of 21 per day.[1][5][6][7]

5. Thanks. That's a pretty impressive total!

I think it is entirely likely that my lifetime total is less and I'm 75. When you consider this is only the ones the WP observed and analyzed I can't imagine how high the real total is. This does show how hopeless it is to correct all of them.

I'm old enough to remember when the WP fact checker called out some Democrats because, while what they said was true, it was in their opinion incomplete, therefore a "lie" because it did not lead to the conclusion they thought correct.

…from the moment he rode down that damn escalator. But, noooooo, they treated every breath he drew as if the CO2 he was exhaling was going to cure every ill on the planet.

6. At this point, either you get he is full of shit

Or you are a complete moron.

However, many people don't care that he is full of shit. They want to own the libs. That us more important to them and love how much Trump annoys liberals. This is a bad end game strategy for everyone involved. But all GOP voters are really, really hate filled morons. There are no good GOP voters.
