1. Because you watch TV, or maybe some common AM radio stations?

I live peacefully without TV, have for over 10 years. I have the heart rate data to prove it.

And AM only for meaningless sports radio. One DHS ad this year and a lot of "Too bad for you" limp wang repair ads.

As much classical radio as possible. Only one weak FM station, so I stream over the internet. BP device needs batteries, but it's always fine.

Oldies station on AM keeps me young. 50,000 watts nearby. Ads for furniture and tractor repair only.

I get tons of news via DU and Hacker News, and I choose what to read and what to ignore, not some program director. It's entirely low-emotion, unlike media, which love to shock you.

I block every damn ad on the internet.

8. Every time I tell someone that I haven't had a T.V. for 15-20 years, they say "That's great!"

But when I go volunteer with my clients, many of them have the idiot box running.

I sort of feel the same way about broadcast radio - it's a linear presentation that leads one to listen drivel in between the content.

Being able to see a list of headlines and abstracts and then decide (on my time) what I want to watch/listen to is how I get my fixes.

9. Yes. I scan (DU and Hacker News) and get all the bullet points, and I alone decide where to spend my attention.

People want top dollar for their used cars and zilch for their precious time and lives.

I can't even tolerate more than a minute of online videos. I can't sit still spending 30 minutes for a paragraph's worth of information.

4. Where are you seeing them?

I don't have cable. I see them rarely on Youtube and immediately back out of the video when I do. If we all turn them off when they appear, it might tell the ad buyers to stop buying them
.Most shows can be finished later on demand.

I live in Jax FL and have not seen any pro traitor ads for awhile. I did see 1-2 a few months ago, late at night, but nothing since. I almost always reflexively mute the ads when they come on, as I did those times and was so glad not to hear the lying drivel.
