I believe it would be more accurate to say that the republicans want to deny actual medical care for American citizens. The law, at this point, requires emergency rooms to provide care that would stabilize a life threatening situation. After that is accomplished, patients are told to see their GP. People without insurance do not have GPs.
The effect of the cuts then is to deny medical care for anything other than a life threatening situation, for anyone who does not have insurance or cash.
Before the ACA, doctors in my area would not take new patients on Medicare or Medicaid. If a person without them or insurance called a doctor's office to make an appointment they were told to find a doctor who would accept them, but they would not. We were fortunate that our local tribe was able to establish a clinic that did take such patients. To them I will be eternally grateful because they save many lives, including mine.
The Rs want this for the whole country - minus the tribal clinic. Do they expect doctors to provide free medical care? Are they truly happy with the consequences of their cuts and eventual elimination?
Are they truly this cruel?
